Audi fine-tunes the new model Q7 at le Mirage in the Namib Desert
Last week, Audi performed their final checks on the new Q7 in Namibia. During these ‘Last Approval Drives’, Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi’s Board Member for Technical Development, fine-tuned the new model together with its Chief Technical developers. This all happened in the Namib Desert and Sossus area.
Audi chose to fine-tune their top-line jeep in the Sossus area because of the ideal combination between road types and the hot temperatures. The gravel roads were used to test the cars comfort and the hot temperatures were good for testing the cooling systems.
The Sossus area was not only selected for it’s testing abilities, but also for it’s photogenic beauty. Audi invited a small group of international journalist to experience the new 2016 model Q7. Lots of photos and videos were made while testing the car.
The entire Audi crew/team stayed at Le Mirage Desert Lodge & Spa. Besides an intensive test-week, the Audi delegation and journalists also had wonderful experience in Namibia. It was the first time Audi chose for le Mirage, but the lodge’s management would not be surprised if more new models would be tested from the lodge.
